### Welcome to My DIY blog

Welcome to creating beautiful, self-contained plant ecosystems in jars. These jars are perfect for adding a touch of greenery to your home or office and to make fantastic gifts. My blog will guide you through the process of making your own jars, offering tips and creative ideas along the way.

### Featured Project: DIY Jar Decoration

#### Materials Needed

- Glass jars (mason jars, recycled jars, or any clear glass container)

- Small pebbles or gravel

- Activated charcoal

- Potting soil

- Small plants (e.g., succulents, moss, air plants)

- Decorative elements (miniature figurines, shells, colored sand, etc.)

- Tweezers or a long stick for arranging plants

#### Instructions

##### 1. Prepare Your Jar

- Clean the Jar: Ensure your glass jar is clean and dry to prevent mold growth.

##### 2. Create the Drainage Layer

- Add Pebbles:Place a layer of small pebbles or gravel at the bottom of the jar. This will help with drainage and prevent water from pooling at the bottom.

- Add Charcoal: Sprinkle a thin layer of activated charcoal on top of the pebbles. This helps keep the terrarium fresh by preventing odors and mold.

##### 3. Add Soil

- Potting Soil:Add a layer of potting soil on top of the charcoal. The amount will depend on the size of your jar and the plants you choose. Aim for about 2-3 inches of soil.

##### 4. Plant Selection and Arrangement

- Choose Plants: Select small plants that thrive in humid environments and low light, such as moss, ferns, and small succulents.

- Planting:Using tweezers or a stick, make small holes in the soil and carefully place your plants inside. Arrange them to your liking, ensuring they have enough space to grow.

##### 5. Add Decorative Elements

- **Personalize:** Add decorative elements to your terrarium to give it a unique touch. Miniature figurines, colorful sand, shells, or small stones can add a whimsical or thematic element to your terrarium.

##### 6. Finishing Touches

- Watering:Lightly mist your terrarium with water. Ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged. Succulents and air plants will need less water, while moss and ferns may require a bit more.

- Placement: Place your terrarium in a spot with indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can overheat the terrarium and harm the plants.

### DIY Tips and Tricks

#### Choosing the Right Plants

- Succulents: Require less water  and prefer bright, indirect light.- Ferns and Moss: Thrive in high humidity and low light conditions.

- Air Plants:Need minimal soil and can be placed on decorative elements.

#### Creative Ideas

-Themed Jars:Create themed jars such as a beach scene with sand and shells, a fairy garden with miniature fairy figurines, or a desert landscape with small cacti and succulents.

- Layering Colors: Use different colors of sand and pebbles to create visually striking layers at the bottom of your terrarium.

- Upcycled Containers:Use old light bulbs, teapots, or vintage glassware as unique terrarium containers.

Thank you
